David Edgar and Martyn Ramsay discussed all things Rangers on the most recent edition of the Heart and Hand podcast and during the show, the pair spent some time talking about Alfredo Morelos, amid recent reports linking Lille with another move for the Colombian striker.

Back in July, The Athletic’s Jordan Campbell reported that the Ligue 1 side had ‘an offer in the region of £13m plus bonuses’ rejected for the 24-year-old.

However, while the French club’s opening bid for the Rangers forward was said to have been rejected, reports re-emerged earlier this week linking Lille with a move for the forward, with The Sun reporting that Les Dogues ‘will test Rangers’ resolve with a take-it-or-leave-it bid of £18m’ for Morelos.

Rangers fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Gers transfer quiz. According to Transfermarkt, the £4.5million signing of which player has been the club's most expensive signing so far this summer?

Edgar and Ramsay talked about Morelos’ future following the re-emergence of reports linking him with Lille during the most recent edition of the Heart and Hand podcast and here is what Ramsay had to say about the attacker’s potential sale and the Gers’ valuation of the Colombian: “If Rangers have stuck to their £20m [valuation] for some time – and I think they have – and that’s their promise to the player, and eventually a club turns up who matches our valuation, if they don’t accept, we’ll have bigger problems I think, internally, than we have at the moment.

“So, this is life, a huge markup, huge bit of business, and if they do get close to that £20m, considering what they’ve turned down – and it’s exasperated some of us that we were willing to play that game of poker, and fair enough, if we do manage to get what we set as our valuation.

“A club in Scotland, that are hardly rolling in money – I just don’t think that’s something that we can laugh at and turn down, if it can be converted properly into quality in areas where we need it.

“If a player wants to leave, I’m keen to do a deal sooner rather than later and if the money’s right, eventually, then get it done and strengthen where we need to.”

Would you accept less than £20m for Morelos?

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Ramsay had to say, he believes that £20m is Rangers’ valuation of Morelos and the Gers should accept an offer that matches.

However, Ramsay did also indicate that if the Glasgow-based club are offered a fee close to that sum, then it may also be wise for the club to accept that offer.

So, with that in mind, if the recent reports linking Lille with an £18m ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ offer for the player are to be believed, then it will be interesting to see if Rangers deem this to be close enough to their valuation of Morelos to warrant a sale of the Colombian, who is currently valued at £13.5m according to Transfermarkt.
