David Wren, Colin Armstrong and Alec Anderson appeared on the latest edition of the Gersnet podcast to discuss all things Rangers and the Glasgow-based club’s 2-2 draw with Hibernian at Easter Road this past Sunday.

They spent some time discussing Connor Goldson and the role he played in Hibs scoring their second goal of the game – a 71st-minute equaliser that allowed the home side to take a point from this fixture.

Rangers fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Gers transfer quiz. According to Transfermarkt, the £4.5million signing of which player has been the club's most expensive signing so far this summer?

As per Rangersnews.uk, Goldson ‘dropped too deep allowing [Drey] Wright the space to open the scoring’ in the 22nd minute of the match, before the 27-year-old ‘gave the ball away needlessly’ to allow Christian Doidge to score the equaliser later on in the contest.

During this recent edition of the Gersnet podcast, Armstrong discussed Goldson’s “silly mistake” versus Hibs, saying: “You think we’re okay and then just that silly mistake from Goldson – I think we spoke a couple of weeks ago about the likes of him and [James Tavernier] have got these mistakes in them.

“They’re pillars of consistency, they perform so well, week in, week out – but then they make these catastrophic errors.

“It’s just frustrating that after having such a good start to the season defensively, that we’ve dropped the points to such a slack bit of attempted defensive play by Goldson.”

TIF Thoughts…

Rangersnews.uk gave Goldson the lowest rating (4/10) of any Rangers player in this game, however, WhoScored gave a much more positive 7.43 overall rating to the defender for his performance versus Hibs.

According to WhoScored, the Englishman made the joint-second-highest number of tackles (two), the joint-highest number of clearances (four) and played the joint-highest number of accurate long balls (six) of any Gers player versus Hibs and with that in mind, we feel that his overall performance in this game may not have been that bad.

However, it was ultimately the £3.6m-rated man’s mistake that played a significant role in allowing Hibs to score their equaliser and therefore, we feel that it is understandable why he has come in for some criticism despite seemingly playing well for most of this game.
