Pundit Peter Martin has recently made a claim about Boli Bolingoli and his situation with the Parkhead club.

Martin was recently hosting the latest episode of PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Parkhead-based club.

One player that they focused on was Bolingoli, who has now sealed a loan move to Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir.

Which player played the highest number of minutes in all competitions for Celtic in the 2019/20 season?

Bolingoli’s loan move comes after he had broken quarantine regulations. He had taken a secret trip to Spain and after having failed to quarantine, he even played for Celtic in a Premiership game against Kilmarnock.

Celtic are looking at potential replacements for the defender.

Martin talked about Bolingoli and he believes that Celtic were “in danger” of potentially sacking the left-back for his actions.

He said: “As far as PR is concerned on this one, they’ve managed to come out of it pretty well, because I was waiting on the furore and how they were going to handle obviously giving him a two-week maximum wage penalty, as well.

“I think they’ve said they gave him the harshest penalty they could, which would have been two weeks’ wages under the PFA agreement with players and various other organisations who look at these situations.

Do you think Celtic should have sacked Bolingoli?

Yes, surely

No

No

“He’s got the ban, and I thought they were in danger of having to sack him for his misdemeanour – going out for a day and coming back without telling anybody he hadn’t quarantined or self-isolated.”

TIF Thoughts…

The fact that Celtic were looking at potential replacements for the Belgian shows that they weren’t keen on keeping him. Neil Lennon had made his frustration with the player very clear.

He said that the player had been “selfish” in his actions and it was a “total betrayal of trust” as well. He had also said that it was going to be “very difficult” for the defender to be accepted back into the club’s dressing room.

Bolingoli hadn’t played a single game in the second half of the 2019/20 season of the Premiership, so, it might be a sign of the fact that Celtic won’t miss the defender in the current season, especially since they’re looking at replacements for him.
