Former Celtic defender Jackie McNamara has been sharing his thoughts on current Hoops manager Neil Lennon and how he sees this current Celtic squad.

This comes after McNamara recently made an appearance on the latest video from Celtic-themed YouTube channel 67 Hail Hail where he spoke about a number of topics concerning the Scottish club.

Starting with an easy one - which club did Celtic sign Moussa Dembele from?

After being asked by John McGinley if he believes that Lennon is currently building a dressing room at Celtic that is full of “his men” that he can trust to deliver silverware for the club this season, McNamara shared his thoughts on the matter.

He said: “That’s a real possibility.

“Neil will want players in his team that want to be there first and foremost. If players are looking to go or don’t want to play under him, he’ll be wanting to make sure that he’s with them for the season.”

In terms of transfers, this season has seen Celtic bring in new players such as Albian Ajeti, David Turnbull, Vasilis Barkas and Shane Duffy.

As well as bringing new players in, they have also said goodbye to players such as Eboue Kouassi, Jonny Hayes and Craig Gordon to name a few (per Transfermarkt).

So far this season, Celtic have got off to a good start in the SPFL having played four matches in which they won three and drew the other.

However, the Hoops were knocked out of the Champions League after falling to a 2-1 defeat to Hungarian side Ferencvaros in the second-round qualifiers.

TIF Thoughts…

It’s understandable why Lennon would want to build a team at Celtic with players who would be willing to fight for him and the club to win as much silverware as possible while they chase their tenth SPFL league title in a row this season.

With the club no longer competing in the Champions League this season, you would assume that Lennon would now be fully focused on their domestic league campaign to win the title.
