Ex-Rangers player Andy Halliday appeared on the latest edition of the Record Rangers podcast to discuss all the latest goings-on with the Glasgow-based club and during the show, the 28-year-old spent some time talking about Ryan Kent.

Halliday is currently a free agent after departing from Ibrox over the summer and the Scottish midfielder was full of praise for his ex-teammate Kent during this podcast appearance, commending the 23-year-old attacker for his recent performances.

Rangers fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Gers transfer quiz. According to Transfermarkt, the £4.5million signing of which player has been the club's most expensive signing so far this summer?

Here is what Halliday had to say about Kent on the Record Rangers podcast: “I think Rangers’ match-winners are contributing to every game right now. Personally, I think Ryan Kent’s [taken] his game to a new level.

“I think one thing we’ve spoken about with Ryan Kent in the past is – the talent’s been there, the performances have been there, it’s just knowing how good he is, just wanting him to get his numbers up in terms of goals and assists and I think he’s started already with four goals now in the first seven games.”

TIF Thoughts…

As explained by Halliday, Kent has scored four goals in his seven Premiership appearances so far this season, making him the Gers’ top league goalscorer at present.

Considering that he scored seven goals over his 21 Premiership appearances last season and netted six times in Scotland’s top-flight the season before, we feel it’s fair to say that the former Liverpool man has enjoyed an impressive start to the 2020/21 campaign, as he is on course to enjoy his best season in front of goal for Rangers, and it’s clear that Halliday has also been impressed by Kent’s output this term so far, with the ex-Gers man suggesting that this is an example of how £3.15m-rated Kent is taking “his game to a new level.”

Knowing that the Gers paid £6.48m to sign the Englishman permanently last year, with that being the highest transfer fee that the Glasgow-based club have paid for a player since they re-signed Barry Ferguson from Blackburn Rovers for £6.53m back in 2005, we feel that the club may have been expecting the attacker to provide plenty of goal contributions and so hopefully, for Kent and for the Gers, he can build on his positive start to the season and justify the club’s faith in him.
