Pundit Kevin Graham has recently made a claim about Tom Rogic and his situation at Parkhead right now.

Graham was a guest on the latest episode of the A Celtic State of Mind podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Bhoys.

One player that they focused on was Rogic and Graham gave his opinion about the Australian midfielder. Graham believes that Rogic could be a player who leaves the club this summer.

Which player played the highest number of minutes in all competitions for Celtic in the 2019/20 season?

Rogic was initially ‘set’ for a move to an unnamed Qatar-based club and Celtic were in talks to sell him as well. That move fell through as the Australian failed to agree personal terms with the unnamed Qatari outfit.

When talking about Rogic’s situation, Graham said that Neil Lennon is paying lip service to Rogic so that his value in the market doesn’t decrease.

He said: “The club has still taken a massive hit to the finances and these books are going to be balanced somehow.

“When you’re looking at that, when you look at the midfield options that we’ve got, then a player that’s played 32 games over the last two seasons is one of the first names to go out of the door – no matter if they can contribute or not.

Will Rogic leave Celtic this summer?

“For me, it could maybe be that Lennon’s saying, ‘oh well, welcome back into the squad’ as just basically a manager paying lip service.

“A manager can’t say in public [that] this guy’s got no future at this football club, because the player’s value then goes down.”

TIF Thoughts…

Rogic played only 16 Premiership games last season and he played just 17 league games in the 2018/19 season as well. He is yet to play a single game for the Bhoys this season.

The Australian’s injury record over the last few years hasn’t been promising. He has suffered four knee problems since the start of the 2017/18 campaign. He is currently valued at £1.8m.

The amount of times he’s played over the last two seasons perhaps suggests that Neil Lennon doesn’t fully trust him on a regular basis.

So, if that’s the case, Rogic might indeed be one of the players that Celtic sell. The fact that the club was in talks to sell him earlier this summer might be a sign that they’re looking to offload Rogic.
