Pundit Alan Rough has recently made a claim about Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard and his future at Parkhead.

Rough was a guest on the latest episode of PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show podcast. The panel discussed many issues in Scottish football and Rough focused on Edouard’s situation at Celtic. The pundit believes that the Frenchman should come out in public and say that he’s staying at Parkhead.

Starting with an easy one - which club did Celtic sign Moussa Dembele from?

Edouard has been linked with a move to Aston Villa in recent days. In the past, he has been linked to the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle United as well. French side Monaco had an approach rejected for him back in January.

Rough talked about Edouard and urged him to come out in public and commit his future at Parkhead in that way, in light of recent comments made by Neil Lennon in which he questioned the commitment of some of his players following their Champions League exit last week.

Should Edouard publicly state his desire to stay at Celtic?

Yes

Yes

No need for that

No need for that

He said: “The Edouard [situation] is one that needs to be clarified. He needs to come out and say – ‘look, I’m quite happy where I am’ or give some kind of vocal backing.”

TIF Thoughts…

As mentioned before, multiple clubs have been linked with a move for Edouard. While the Frenchman himself hasn’t come out to commit his future to Celtic, Lennon has already said that the club is in talks to hand Edouard a new deal. The striker’s agent has also said that Celtic’s chase of their tenth Premiership title in a row is ‘important’ for Edouard. He also confirmed that Edouard is currently ‘happy’ at Celtic.

These are pretty positive signs for Celtic and the club’s fans. Edouard finished as the highest scorer in the Premiership in the 2019/20 season and it shows how important he is for the club. So, Celtic fans would certainly like it if he stays at Parkhead for longer.
