Pundit Paul John Dykes has recently praised Olivier Ntcham for his performance against Livingston on Saturday.

Dykes was hosting the latest episode of the A Celtic State of Mind podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Parkhead club. They also talked about Celtic’s recent 3-2 win over Livingston. While discussing the game, Dykes focused on Ntcham and his performance on Saturday. The pundit believes that Ntcham was ‘class’ at the weekend.

Which player played the highest number of minutes in all competitions for Celtic in the 2019/20 season?

The Hoops went 1-0 down in the game, but Callum McGregor, Ryan Christie and Albian Ajeti all got on the scoresheet before Livingston pulled one back. Ntcham had started in the midfield of the club’s 3-5-2 shape on Saturday (as per WhoScored).

Dykes had high praise for Ntcham and his performance. He said: “See when you look at some of the players who have come in and got some game time, they’ve performed well and one of those players, in particular, is Olivier Ntcham.

“Now, his performance today again – we were watching him pretty closely today – and he was class throughout the whole game. I know that the two players who were up for Man of the Match were [Hatem Abd] Elhamed and McGregor. Listen, I thought McGregor played excellently well; I also think Ntcham is up there as one of the best performers.”

TIF Thoughts…

Ntcham has now made nine appearances in all competitions for the Bhoys this season. Seven of those appearances have come in the Premiership, though his appearance against Livingston was just his fourth start of the league campaign (as per Transfermarkt).

The Frenchman picked up a rating of 7.01/10 on Saturday and he was the club’s fifth-best performer on the day. He completed the joint-highest number of dribbles in the game (four) and came up with a couple of key passes for the Hoops.

So it was clearly a solid performance from the midfielder and Celtic fans can only hope that Ntcham keeps coming up with similar performances on a consistent basis.
