Kevin Graham has been discussing reports linking Mitchel Bakker with a move to Celtic on a recent episode of the A Celtic State of Mind podcast.

The Dutch defender, who currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain, has been linked with a move to Glasgow during this transfer window, but according to a recent report (via the Daily Record) from Thierry Boon, reporter for Netherlands-based outlet NOS, the player is keen to prove himself in the French capital.

Which player played the highest number of minutes in all competitions for Celtic in the 2019/20 season?

When discussing the 20-year-old’s future, here is what Graham had to say:

“I watched PSG v Marseille last night and Bakker didn’t play. PSG have only got two left-backs, so Bakker might be having a look at that going, ‘I’ve got a chance here of getting game time at PSG’, so he might want to stay there.”

Are you hopeful Celtic can convince Bakker to swap Paris for Glasgow?

TIF Thoughts…

To date, Bakker has made just six appearances for the Paris Saint-Germain first team (as per Transfermarkt) and so it could certainly be argued that he would get far more game time under Neil Lennon at Parkhead.

However, the youngster’s recent comments would suggest that the player has his heart set on remaining in the French capital.

The Hoops sent Boli Bolingoli out on loan to Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir earlier this month after he breached quarantine rules by taking a trip to Spain behind the club’s back.

Therefore, you can understand why bringing in another left-back may be a priority for Neil Lennon and his staff.
