Former Wolverhampton Wanderers head of media Paul Berry has recently discussed Adama Traore’s recurring shoulder injury.

During the 2019/20 season, the Spanish winger dislocated his shoulder on multiple occasions (per Express and Star).

Traore was set to have a scan on his shoulder and the club’s manager Nuno Espirito Santo stated that a decision would then be taken over whether further action would be required.

However, it was then revealed in August that the Spaniard would not require surgery on his long-standing shoulder issue after working on a ‘treatment programme’ (per Sky Sports).

So, in the latest episode of The Athletic’s The Molineux View podcast, Berry made an appearance and discussed the decision regarding Traore.

To kick-off this quiz on Nuno Espirito Santo on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at Molineux against?

He said: “I think possibly [it is a concern]. It did keep happening for a time, didn’t it? Obviously, when it happened, I think he carried on playing most of the time.

“You’ve just got to wonder about the long term, but again, repeating myself, the medical team at Wolves are so good. If there’s any kind of doubt that it is going to cause him long-term problems, I think they would’ve gone for the surgery.

“They’ve got this new technique now as well, haven’t they, of sort of greasing his arms up to stop people grabbing onto him which, hopefully, that works as well.

“I mean, it would’ve been the ideal time, wouldn’t it, to get the surgery done, even though the break’s been very, very short, and at least then give him more time to recover.

“So, as you say, you’re hoping that they’ve taken another look at it and maybe strengthened the muscle around it and are confident it won’t be a problem any more.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Berry had to say, he is hopeful that the club’s medical team have made an informed decision that Traore’s shoulder will no longer be a problem for him.

Do you trust that it was the correct decision for Adama Traore to not have surgery on his shoulder?

No, should've had it

Yes, I trust the medical team

Yes, I trust the medical team

With the 24-year-old winger having been Wolves’ best-performing player in the league during the 2019/20 campaign (per WhoScored), hopefully, for the Old Gold, he can avoid any injuries next season.

His stellar 7.49/10 average rating in the Premier League during the most recent term would certainly suggest that he would be a big miss for Espirito Santo if he was absent for an extended period.
