The Athletic reporter Roshane Thomas has recently discussed the transfer link between West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose.
As touted in a recent report by Le 10 Sport, the Hammers are supposedly eyeing a transfer swoop for the English left-back.
However, David Moyes’ outfit was reported to not be alone in their appreciation of the defender, with Aston Villa also stated as an admirer of the 30-year-old full-back.
While Le 10 Sport’s report insists that French giants Paris Saint-Germain do not want Rose, Italian side Genoa were also linked with possible interest.
So, in the latest episode of The Athletic’s U Irons podcast, Thomas discussed the transfer link between West Ham and the Tottenham defender.
He said: “Again, [Rose] doesn’t fit the type of player Moyes is trying to bring in. He wants to bring [in] young, exciting players.
“Danny Rose is the same age as Aaron Cresswell and they’re both on the decline, so it makes no sense whatsoever [for] West Ham [to] want to try and sign him.
“You’re better off looking at getting a younger player or someone like a [Mykola] Matviyenko, the Shakhtar Donetsk defender who can play centre-half and left-back. So, he’ll be naturally perfect for the system.
“Or, in [the] worst-case scenario, as David Ornstein revealed in his column, look at someone like an Emerson from Chelsea – not a Danny Rose on the decline.”
TIF Thoughts…
As can be seen in what the journalist had to say, he believes that West Ham should not make a move to sign Rose from Spurs.
Would you be happy if West Ham signed Danny Rose from Spurs?
No, he's not good enough
Yes, he's a solid player
Certainly, during his time on loan with Newcastle United last season, the defender was unimpressive as he made 11 Premier League appearances and picked up a 6.47/10 average rating (per WhoScored).
The same average rating for West Ham in the top flight last season would have made him the Irons’ ninth-worst performer.
So, it seems as though the Hammers may be better off staying well clear of a move to sign Rose from Jose Mourinho’s outfit.
