In-the-know podcaster @ExWHUemployee has discussed the recent transfer link between the Hammers and Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose.

Last week, David Moyes’ outfit was touted to have an interest in signing the 30-year-old left-back from Spurs by Le 10 Sport.

It was claimed that he is not a target for Paris Saint-Germain. However, Italian side Genoa and Premier League rivals Aston Villa are eyeing Rose alongside West Ham.

The Englishman currently has one year left on his contract with Tottenham and a market value of £14.4m according to Transfermarkt.

On the latest episode of The West Ham Way podcast, @ExWHUemployee discussed the transfer link and aired his thoughts on it.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

He said: “I know that there are bids in for numerous players. Danny Rose has been offered to us – I reported that ages ago. He has been offered to us, but they’re not sure whether they want to go ahead with that.

“Okay, he didn’t do great at Newcastle last year on loan, I don’t think. Otherwise, I think Newcastle would have signed him rather than sign Jamal Lewis from Norwich.

“But we still should take a gamble on him, because he’s going to be better than the left-back options that we currently have. He’s an England international that’s played at the highest level.

“Yes, he might be on the decline, but you can give him a go.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what the in-the-know podcaster had to say, he seems to believe that the Irons should be looking at signing Rose and take a “gamble” on him.

Should West Ham sign Danny Rose from Spurs?

No, he's not good enough

Yes, he's a solid player

However, @ExWHUemployee suggested that Rose was better than what the Hammers currently have at left-back when he earned a 6.47/10 average rating over 11 appearances while on loan with the Toon last season (per WhoScored).

That rating was, in fact, worse than what both Arthur Masuaku (6.60/10) and Aaron Cresswell (6.62/10) earned in the top flight last term.

So, perhaps signing the 30-year-old defender may not be as good an idea as what the club insider suggested.
