This comes after Edwards recently made an appearance on the We Are West Ham Podcast where he spoke about a number of topics concerning David Moyes’ side.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

On the subject of Rice, who has been heavily linked with a move to fellow Premier League side Chelsea in recent weeks, Edwards shared his thoughts on whether or not the Englishman will leave West Ham in the coming days.

He said: “I think he’ll be [at West Ham], with all the noises coming out from the camp after the win [against Wolves] on Sunday, [Alan] Irvine [came] out, obviously, [and] said he’s not going to go anywhere.

“Look at him, he looks like a player who still wants to be here and that his head is in the game here.

“I think Jacob Steinberg did an article saying that West Ham are saying that there’s absolutely zero chance that he’ll be moved on this window and Chelsea are starting to look elsewhere.

“Fingers crossed but yeah, [the] transfer window can change but I’d be very, very surprised if he’s not there come the end of the week.”

As Edwards mentioned in the podcast, West Ham’s assistant manager Alan Irvine recently said that he “absolutely” expects Rice to stay at the club and not make a move to Chelsea before the current summer transfer window deadline next week.

Rice has so far played the full 90 minutes in all three of West Ham’s Premier League matches this season, earning himself a solid season rating of 7.31/10 (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

It’s good to hear that Edwards believes that Rice will not be leaving West Ham before next week.

Given how well Rice has performed for his club so far this season in the top flight, the club will undoubtedly be hoping to keep hold of the midfield man for as long as possible.
