West Ham United podcaster @ExWHUemployee discussed all the latest Irons news on the most recent edition of The West Ham Way podcast and during the show, he shed some light on the possibility of the Irons signing Saint-Etienne centre-back Wesley Fofana, who has also reportedly been targeted by Leicester City during the current transfer window.

According to a recent report from L’Equipe, West Ham have outbid Leicester City for the Saint-Etienne centre-back, with the Irons reportedly tabling a €35m (£32.06m) offer for the 19-year-old Frenchman, bettering the Foxes’ bid of €32m (£29.31m).

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

During this recent edition of The West Ham Way podcast, @ExWHUemployee shed some light on the latest with regard to the Irons’ potential move for the player and here is what he had to say about this possible deal: “He is a player that has been offered to West Ham, but he’s very expensive and he thinks he’s going to go to Leicester.

“So I think we’ll put a cheeky low offer in, won’t get him and it’ll be the same old situation, really.”

Do you think West Ham will sign Fofana?

TIF Thoughts…

So, judging by what @ExWHUemployee had to say, it seems as though he isn’t convinced that the East London club will sign the 19-year-old centre-back despite him being offered to them and despite reports claiming that the Irons have actually offered more money than Leicester for the player, with the podcaster suggesting that the King Power Stadium may still be a more likely destination for the player.

Considering that the Foxes finished 11 places higher than West Ham on the Premier League table last season and they have taken six points from their two league games so far this term while the Irons have failed to earn a single point from their two games so far this season, it may be fair to say that the King Power Stadium does seem like a more attractive destination than the London Stadium for the player at present.

However, given that the player did reportedly agree on a deal with Leicester, it seems as though the Frenchman is open to a move, so hopefully, for West Ham, they can reach an agreement with Saint-Etienne and subsequently convince Fofana that East London is the place for him before the Premier League transfer window closes in less than two weeks.
