During the most recent edition of the Express and Star’s Baggies Broadcast podcast, Joseph Masi and Luke Hatfield talked about all the latest goings-on at West Bromwich Albion and they spent some time discussing Kieran Gibbs following his sending-off against Everton this past weekend.

Gibbs was dismissed before half-time in this game after he ‘pushed James Rodriguez in the face,’ as per BBC Sport.

The Baggies were trailing the Toffees 2-1 at the time of this sending off and they went on to lose the game 5-2.

During this recent edition of the Baggies Broadcast podcast, Masi talked about Gibbs’ sending off and he shared some criticism for the 30-year-old former England international, saying: “The really frustrating thing with the Kieran Gibbs red card is – I’ve given him a ‘2’ in my player ratings, which is the joint-lowest I’ve ever given – I don’t know if it’s a bit harsh, because for 45 minutes he was excellent.

“I don’t know what you say about it really, he’s completely lost his head.

“What’s really annoyed me with the Gibbs one is A, that he’s done it and B, he’s done it in the Premier League where there’s VAR and everything can be watched again.

“How stupid can you be, really?”

TIF Thoughts…

It’s clear that Masi feels that Gibbs’ sending off was a foolish one and considering the reason for his dismissal, it may be understandable why the journalist feels this way, especially as the Baggies were only trailing by a goal when Gibbs was given a red card and they went on to lose by three goals, which may have been prevented had they not been down to 10 men.

We feel that Masi’s criticism of the left-back may be justified on this occasion and hopefully, for Gibbs and for West Brom, the £2.88m-rated player learns from this incident and manages to steer clear of red cards like this in the future.
