Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to a transfer report linking their club with a move for Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke.

According to Football Insider (via Talking THFC), the North London club are interested in making a late move for the Belgian striker.

The report suggests that Jose Mourinho has given the green light for Spurs to try and sign the 29-year-old before the transfer window shuts on 5th October, as he looks to bring in another forward to support Harry Kane, with the England captain currently the only natural striker in the Portuguese manager’s squad.

How well can you remember the last week of Spurs action? 1. Who scored Spurs' first goal in the win against KF Shkendija?

Last season in the Premier League, the former Liverpool man managed just two goals and one assist in 24 league appearances for Roy Hodgson’s side, although his average rating of 6.81 suggests that his overall performances weren’t too bad (per Whoscored).

Although his goalscoring record in the last few seasons has not been too impressive, Benteke has enjoyed prolific seasons with the likes of Crystal Palace and Aston Villa in the past, whilst his overall record of 72 goals and 21 assists in 226 Premier League appearances (per Transfermarkt) certainly suggests that he could add something to this Lilywhites side.
