Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest reported news on Ryan Sessegnon, which suggests that Jose Mourinho is hoping that the 20-year-old will have a major role in the 2020/21 season and has therefore blocked any potential departure.
Spurs signed the England U21 international from Fulham last summer in a deal that could rise to £30 million (per BBC), however, he struggled to make much impact in his first season with the Lilywhites, making just six appearances in the Premier League, averaging a disappointing 6.32/10 rating (per WhoScored).
Perhaps as a result of his lack of appearances, the youngster had been linked with a potential loan move away from the north London club this summer, with his old club Fulham and Ajax amongst those reportedly interested. However, Football Insider (via Hotspur Related), now suggests that Mourinho will block him from leaving the club this summer as he has earmarked a major role for him in the upcoming campaign.

You would hope that Spurs’ hectic schedule, due to their participation in the Europa League’s early stages, will mean that youngsters such as Sessegnon will be given much more opportunity to feature in the first team in the imminent season, so you can perhaps understand why the Portuguese manager is seemingly keen to keep him around.
