Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to a reported update on Hugo Lloris, which suggests that the French goalkeeper is set to be offered a new deal at the north London club.
According to Football Insider (via Hotspur Related), the Lilywhites have opened preliminary talks with the 33-year-old over a new long-term contract, which could see him finish his career with the club. Despite the World Cup-winning ‘keeper having two years left on his current contract, it seems as if the Spurs hierarchy are keen to tie him down to a longer deal.
The shot-stopper impressed with his performances in the Premier League last season, averaging a solid 6.98 rating across his 21 appearances in the top flight (per WhoScored). The Spurs captain missed a significant period of the campaign due to an elbow injury suffered against Brighton in October but certainly showed his class later in the season, producing strong displays against the likes of Newcastle United and Leicester City following the Premier League restart.
Does Lloris deserve a new deal?

Best keeper I’ve seen at the club in 40 years!
Pulls out world class saves every game! Prone to the odd mistake especially when being asked to play out from the back! Simple way to cure that is don’t ask him to play out from the back!— ben harris (@blondy205) August 31, 2020
8 Years and counting. A truely underrated Spurs hero. Really hope he can get a trophy before its all over…
