Tottenham Hotspur YouTuber Chris Cowlin recently welcomed Ricky Sacks onto his channel to discuss the latest goings-on at the north London club, with a focus on some of the business that the Lilywhites have done so far in the transfer window, as well as some of the players they are reportedly interested in signing.

One topic of discussion in the recent video was the future of Spurs defender Cameron Carter-Vickers. The USA international spent the second half of last season on loan with Luton Town in the Championship and helped the Hatters avoid relegation to League One. However, the 22-year-old was not given a squad number for the 2020/21 campaign, and there have been rumours suggesting that he could join Bournemouth on loan before the window shuts.

Spurs fans: How well can you remember the last week of THFC action? - 1. Who scored Spurs' first goal of the season?

Here’s what Sacks had to say about the Spurs academy graduate during the video:

“You’d have to imagine [he will go]. It’s all down to the player’s preference of where they want to go. Cameron Carter-Vickers, I feel quite sorry for him. Every time he comes back to Tottenham, he’s got a different manager to come under for a pre-season.

“He’s had AVB, he’s had [Mauricio] Pochettino, he’s now had [Jose] Mourinho. The poor bloke, I think he’s had less games than he’s had managers. So, it is quite crazy.”

TIF Thoughts…

While it seems Sacks appears to be slightly off in terms of Carter-Vickers’ history at Spurs – with the academy product being just 15 years old when Andre Villas-Boas was sacked – there can be little to argue over the lack of opportunity the defender has been afforded at Tottenham, as shown in having as many as five loan spells during his career in north London to date.

Meanwhile, he has not made a senior appearance in Spurs colours since January 2017 – which may go some way in justifying Sacks’ ‘crazy’ tag – though he was named on the bench in Tottenham’s recent Europa League tie at Lokomotiv Plovdiv.

Carter-Vickers has managed just four appearances for Tottenham Hotspur’s senior side in his career thus far, and considering he wasn’t handed a squad number, it seems as if he is not part of Mourinho’s immediate plans. Therefore, it would not be a surprise to see him leave the Lilywhites, either permanently or on loan before the transfer window shuts.

However, with his contract set to expire at the end of this season, perhaps they would be better off trying to cash in on the £1.8 million-rated defender as soon as possible in order to raise funds and ensure that he doesn’t leave on a free.
