During the episode, titled ‘Sluggish Spurs’, McQueen had this to say on the performance from Jose Mourinho’s side.

He said: “The worrying thing for me, you know what I’m like with mentality and body language and that sort of stuff – it was terrible.

“People weren’t tracking back, the gaps in that pitch today [were] unbelievable and Richarlison, if he could finish, he could have had a hat-trick today.

“It’s hard to stomach. We all watched it, we’ve all seen it and like Ricky [Sacks] said, we’re Tottenham, we’ll back the boys, but on that performance, woeful, ain’t good enough.”

Spurs fell behind in the second half of the match thanks to a goal from Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Despite edging the possession in the match, Spurs had fewer shots, dribbles and tackles than the visitors on Sunday, resulting in a team rating of 6.32/10 (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

Losing at home on the first day of the season is not a good way for Spurs to begin their 2020/21 Premier League campaign.

In regards to what McQueen had to say about the mentality and body language of the Spurs players on the pitch against Everton, perhaps the only way to see if the team have improved on that is to wait and see what performance they come up with in their next league game away at Southampton.
