Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters have flocked to a Twitter post from @HotspurRelated in which they relayed a report from Football.london which claims the club have an interest in signing the £18m-rated Danny Ings from Southampton.
Currently, Jose Mourinho’s side has just one recognised centre-forward in the first-team squad (as per Transfermarkt), and the boss has expressed his confidence in the Lilywhites getting a deal for a striker over the line before the window closes on October 5.
The report, however, does go on to say that the club may find it difficult to sign Ings during this window. Here is how a sample of the club’s supporters have responded to the update.
If they wouldn’t pay £20m for Wilson because of his injury record, there’s no way they are paying £40m for Ings with his. Move along

Ings would be some signing! Can’t see it ever happening though!

More like impossible. Southampton would laugh at us.

Pointless tweet. Never going to happen

Would you like to see Danny Ings join Spurs?
Yes
No
It’s clear from some of the above responses that many of these Spurs fans have grown frustrated by the club’s lack of movement in the transfer market when it comes to recruiting a striker. It appears these supporters, in particular, have given up hope of a centre-forward coming in sooner rather than later.
?????? the 100th striker link to Spurs

Despite netting 24 times in all competitions last season (as per Transfermarkt), Kane missed 16 games last season due to fitness issues and illness, therefore it can certainly be argued that the team are in desperate need of a back-up option to the England forward although the club don’t appear to be confident Ings is attainable at this time.
