On the latest episode of The View from The Lane podcast for The Athletic, Jack Pitt-Brooke, James Maw and Charlie Eccleshare have been discussing Tottenham Hotspur’s recent transfer business and reflecting on the first three released episodes of the ‘All or Nothing’ documentary.

One topic of discussion in the recent podcast was former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino and his role in the recently-released ‘All or Nothing’ Tottenham Hotspur documentary. Despite being sacked in November 2019, Pitt-Brooke suggests that the Argentinian manager barely features in the first few episodes of the documentary, with his time with the club almost like a prologue to the main event, with Jose Mourinho’s arrival seemingly given significantly more coverage.

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Here’s what Pitt-Brooke had to say about the comparison between Pochettino and Mourinho in the documentary:

“For me, the most interesting thing is the contrast between the enthusiasm for it between Pochettino and Mourinho. Dave Hytner wrote a good piece about this in The Guardian the other day, confirming that Pochettino didn’t really want this to happen, he wasn’t comfortable with it.

“You can tell that because clearly there are no cameras in any of Pochettino’s early meetings, Pochettino does one kind of bit to camera; when Pochettino is sacked, there is obviously no footage of those meetings; and it feels like a prologue, basically, those first 22 minutes. I know that proper filming in earnest didn’t really start until a bit into the season, so maybe the timelines didn’t quite match up, but then Mourinho is obviously delighted to have this documentary.”

TIF Thoughts…

From what Pitt-Brooke suggests, and what Hytner writes in his article, it seems as if Pochettino was not at all keen for the season to be captured by the documentary cameras, and that may explain why he seemingly doesn’t feature much in the early episodes.

Do you think Pochettino deserved more coverage in the documentary?

However, Mourinho seems to take the opposite attitude, and in our opinion, the first three episodes were an enjoyable watch, so it will be interesting to see if the later episodes can deliver a similar level of entertainment.
