On the latest episode of the Come on You Spurs podcast, host Dan Tracey was joined by fellow Lilywhites supporters Karl William, James McCarthy and @MikeCOYSpurs, as they discussed the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, with a focus on the transfer window and the recently-released All or Nothing documentary.

One topic of discussion on the most recent podcast, which was titled: ‘All Or Nothing‘, was the signing of Joe Hart. The former Manchester City ‘keeper joined the Lilywhites on a free transfer earlier in the transfer window, adding to Spurs’ homegrown quota, and perhaps replacing the recently released Michel Vorm as a back-up shot-stopper in Jose Mourinho’s squad.

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Here’s what McCarthy had to say about the signing of Hart on the podcast:

“I can’t see us playing him at all. It’s very much a dressing room signing. We’ve seen already that he’s a big character, he’s a big voice, he’s another player who’s captained teams at times, so he’s got those leadership qualities that can get the best out of us. It fills that homegrown quota because there was no need for Michel Vorm to be taking up one of those overseas player spots when he wasn’t going to get a look in.

“So it all makes perfect sense, and especially if Joe Hart is going to be there, even as a goalkeeping coach, there’s a wealth of experience there that he can be handing on to the youngsters, be that goalkeepers or defenders, because at the end of the day, he’s got a lot of experience of looking out and commanding defences. Hopefully, he doesn’t get on the pitch. I’m not really very impressed with him as a goalkeeper anymore, but I think he’s still got a lot of qualities to bring to the table, whether that be as a coach or just as a big voice in the dressing room.”

TIF Thoughts…

Hart certainly does bring a lot of experience with him to Spurs, having amassed 340 Premier League appearances in his career thus far, in his time with Manchester City, Birmingham City, West Ham United and Burnley (per Transfermarkt).

Do you think Hart is good enough to be featuring for Spurs?

You can perhaps understand McCarthy’s concern about Hart getting on the pitch, considering the 33-year-old hasn’t featured for England since 2017 and arguably made a mistake in Spurs’ pre-season defeat against Watford earlier this month (per Tottenham Hotspur 0:07), but hopefully, for the north London club, he will prove to be a worthwhile signing due to his influence in the dressing room.
