In the latest episode of the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, Jamie Brown, Lee McQueen and Chris Cowlin have been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur and providing instant reaction to the Lilywhites’ 3-1 win against KF Shkendija in the Europa League qualifying fixture.

One topic of discussion on the recent podcast, which was titled ‘Superb Sonny‘, was Spurs midfielder Dele Alli. The 24-year-old was restored to the starting line-up for Spurs’ trip to North Macedonia but he produced a disappointing display, earning a 6.19/10 rating for his performance, before being substituted shortly before the hour mark (per WhoScored).

Spurs fans: How well can you remember the last week of THFC action? - 1. Who scored Spurs' first goal of the season?

The former MK Dons man had been dropped for both of the Lilywhites’ previous two games, and it now perhaps seems unlikely that he will feature against Newcastle United on Sunday, given his poor performance on Thursday evening.

Here’s what McQueen had to say about the Englishman during the podcast:

“Maybe he does need a move to a different club, to do something different, maybe he does need to go abroad. If he [were] to move on, maybe it would be [on] a loan so then he could come back to Tottenham because I do think he’s a superstar, and I feel bad for him that he’s lost his way.

“Sometimes you do see him throwing things around – you saw him in the documentary, him and Eric Dier having a pop at each other – maybe Jose doesn’t like that part of it. But he’s lost his nastiness, he’s lost his edge. When Dele first [came] into the team he had an edge about him and he’s got to try and find that back.”

TIF Thoughts…

It has been suggested in recent weeks that Spurs are keen to send Alli out on loan, with PSG one side credited with an interest, and perhaps a loan spell would allow him to rediscover the sort of form he showed in his first few seasons with Spurs, as his performances in recent seasons certainly haven’t been to that same sort of standard (per WhoScored).

Do you agree that Alli needs a loan move?

It will be interesting to see if Alli can force his way into Mourinho’s first team and if he is still with the north London club by the time the transfer window shuts in October.
