On the latest episode of the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, Jamie Brown, Lee McQueen and Chris Cowlin have been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur and providing instant reaction to the Lilywhites’ 3-1 win against KF Shkendija in the Europa League qualifying fixture.

One topic of discussion on the recent podcast, which was titled: ‘Superb Sonny‘, was the performance of Tanguy Ndombele in the win in North Macedonia. The Frenchman played the full 90 minutes for just the second time under Jose Mourinho and impressed in his performance, earning a 7.66 rating for his display (per WhoScored).

Spurs fans: How well can you remember the last week of THFC action? - 1. Who scored Spurs' first goal of the season?

Here’s what Cowlin had to say about the former Lyon man’s display during the podcast:

“It was a very, very good performance. I am so pleased for him as a player and for the football club and all of us fans that he is turning it around. He played 45 minutes on Sunday which was good to see, 90 minutes tonight away in Macedonia. It was a really, really good performance, a man-of-the-match performance.

“After the year that he’s had, since his record signing last year, he was very, very poor last year, and to see the contrast, there’s real progress in this player and it’s really showing that he’s worked very, very hard. He’s working hard on his fitness, he’s worked hard on his weight, he’s worked hard in every area of his game and it’s really nice to see that Jose Mourinho has given him a second chance.”

He later adds:

“Let’s hope that he can go on in the next couple of games and keep getting time under his belt and getting fitter and fitter and I just think we’re going to see a better and better player because him, at his best, I think he’s just going to be breathtaking. [And with] the players we’ve signed as well, I’m very excited for the next couple of months.”

TIF Thoughts…

Ndombele certainly showed in his performance on Thursday evening that he can be a really important player for Mourinho this season, and fans will no doubt be hoping that he can continue to improve as his fitness gets better and better, with that having proved to be a real problem for the 23-year-old in his first season with the Lilywhites.
