Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to a transfer report linking the north London club with a move for Watford striker Troy Deeney.
According to the Daily Mail (via Hotspur Related), the Lilywhites are monitoring the Englishman’s situation at the Hornets ahead of a potential move, although West Brom look to be one step ahead, with the report suggesting that they have opened talks with Watford over their interest in the 32-year-old.
Spurs certainly seem to be in the market for a backup striker to Harry Kane this summer, which is unsurprising when you consider the lack of options Jose Mourinho was left with following the England captain’s injury last season (per Evening Standard).
Would Deeney be a good signing?
Yes
No
Last season in the Premier League, Deeney impressed in his performances for Watford, contributing 10 goals and two assists in 27 top-flight appearances, which saw him comfortably rated as the Hertfordshire side’s best player across the season, as he earned a strong 7.05/10 rating (per WhoScored).
Reaction from Spurs fans to the reported interest in Deeney can be seen in the tweets below.

Overall, there seems to be a split of opinion amongst Spurs fans as to whether or not Deeney would be a good addition to Mourinho’s side this summer.
