Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to a transfer rumour suggesting their club is interested in signing Chelsea centre-back, Antonio Rudiger.
According to Sky Sports News (via Daily Hotspur), the Lilywhites are interested in signing the German international before the transfer window shuts on 5th October.
Following Chelsea’s summer signing of Thiago Silva, the former Roma man looks to have slipped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, having failed to make an appearance so far this season ahead of their trip to The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for Inter defender Milan Skriniar in recent weeks, but it seems as if Rudiger has emerged as an alternative option.
Considering he is valued at £36 million by Transfermarkt, he could represent a cheaper option than the Slovakian, with the Lilywhites having been quoted closer to €60 million (£54.4 million) for the Inter man’s services.
Do you think Spurs are actually interested in Rudiger?
Yes
No
The 27-year-old made 20 appearances in the top flight for Frank Lampard’s side last season, scoring two goals and averaging a solid 6.77 rating (per Whoscored) and he would bring that Premier League experience that Skriniar lacks.
Reaction from Spurs fans to the reported interest in Rudiger can be seen in the tweets below.

Others feel that this rumour is simply a smokescreen to try and encourage Inter to sell Skriniar for a lower price.
It’s just a ploy to make inter lower their price for Skriniar

Or in other words: we’ve leaked this to encourage Inter to sell us Skriniar sooner rather than later

Overall, it seems as if the majority of Spurs fans either don’t want to sign Rudiger or don’t believe that the rumour has any truth behind it.
