Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to a report linking their club with a move for Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey.

According to Sky Sports (via Hotspur Related), the north London club are interested in signing the 23-year-0ld, who remains keen on a move to the Premier League during the current transfer window.

The report suggests that both Spurs and Everton are interested in the Jamaican international, although the asking price of just over £40 million may have to be reduced should they follow up on that interest.

It is interesting to see Spurs being lined with a winger during the current window, considering the plethora of options already available to Jose Mourinho; with Steven Bergwijn, Lucas Moura, Heung-min Son and Erik Lamela all regulars in that position, whilst youngsters Ryan Sessegnon and Jack Clarke could also feature there (per Transfermarkt).

Would Bailey be a good signing for Spurs?

Although Bailey may be interested in a move to the English top flight, his performances in the Bundesliga last season; when he contributed five goals and three assists in 22 appearances, averaging a slightly unimpressive 6.70 rating (per WhoScored), suggest that Spurs may be better off looking elsewhere if they want to add another winger to their squad.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the reported interest in Bailey can be seen in the tweets below.

Other Spurs fans seem to feel that they don’t need to sign another winger.

Overall, whilst a lot of Spurs fans would clearly love to see their side sign Bailey this summer, others did raise concerns about signing a winger considering the number of options already available to Mourinho in that position.
