Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been reacting to a post from @LastWordOnSpurs which relays a report from A Bola regarding Benfica’s Ruben Dias.
According to the Portuguese outlet, the centre-back has been ‘associated’ with a move to the Lilywhites, and his current employers are now open to ‘attractive offers’ for the 23-year-old, who is said to have a release clause of €100m (£91.7m).
Judging by the report, it appears Benfica are now considering offers lower than the aforementioned figure, and it seems the recent defeat to PAOK in the Champions League is the reason for the club’s change in stance.
Here is how a sample of the Spurs faithful have been responding to the update.
Would be a brilliant signing. Cant see it happening, unless Dele goes.

Do you think a deal could be done for Ruben Dias during this transfer window?
Yes
No
Be a big club and do it. Would be a massive statement of intent. We have some players to sell to offset some of this price but regardless it need to be done

Selling Sanchez and Dele facilitates the purchase of Dias and the Wolfsburg ST. We are a better team after these moves. Players like Foyth and Gazza will need to go anyway

If this is true, sign him up Spurs #coys https://t.co/h6Hi5hnmrL

Whilst the general consensus amongst these Spurs fans is that Ruben Dias would be a good signing, it’s clear that not all of them believe a deal can be done given what Benfica would likely be looking for in terms of a transfer fee.
During the 2019/20 season, the defender made 33 Liga NOS appearances, and according to WhoScored, his average performance rating was an impressive 7.07/10, with the player being named man of the match on two occasions.
Based on the player’s clear ability to perform to a high standard over a sustained period of time, in our view, if Spurs were to sign him, he would be a good addition to the squad.
