Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have been responding to a tweet that was recently posted by Spurs news Twitter account @thespursweb which shares some news regarding the Lilywhites’ pursuit of £27m-rated Wolfsburg forward Wout Weghorst.
This post relays news that was recently reported by the Express, who have claimed that the 28-year-old Dutchman is ‘on Tottenham’s radar.’
This report from the Express states that Weghorst ‘is determined to show he can score goals at the highest level’ and ‘would be willing to play second fiddle to [Harry] Kane’ at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Additionally, his current club, Wolfsburg, are said to have ‘already shown a willingness to accept a payment plan’ to get this deal done.
After @thespursweb shared this information via a tweet, a lot of Tottenham supporters replied to their post to share their thoughts on this reported news.
? Express: Wout Weghorst is on Tottenham’s radar as striker search continues in background of Bale/Reguilon deals. Wolfsburg willing to accept payment plan & player fine with role as Kane back-up.

Would Weghorst be a good signing for Spurs?
YES
NO
One Spurs fan was especially excited by the links to Weghorst by going as far as saying that a swoop for the Dutchman would usurp Spurs’ expected re-signing of Gareth Bale, who has recently completed a medical at Tottenham ahead of a loan return from Real Madrid.
this is better than the bale signing btw https://t.co/LXMmKGUaFt

Considering that the Lilywhites have got a lack of depth at the centre forward position at present, we feel that it’s not a surprise to see that a lot of Spurs fans have reacted positively to this post linking their club with a move for Weghorst.
Additionally, after joining Wolfsburg in the summer of 2018, Weghorst scored 17 Bundesliga goals in the 2018/19 season and scored 16 Bundesliga goals in the 2019/20 season.
In both of those seasons, he scored more league goals than any Spurs player other than Kane scored last season, with the Englishman netting in the Premier League on 18 occasions last term.
We feel that these numbers show that Weghorst has been a reliable goalscorer in recent seasons and as a result, we can understand why plenty of Spurs fans seem excited that he has been linked with a move to their club.
