Fans of Tottenham Hotspur have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Fabrizio Romano relays the news that Spurs have ‘opened talks’ with Inter Milan regarding a potential move for Milan Skriniar.

In his tweet, Romano cited journalist Gianluca Di Marzio as the source of the information, who stated on his website that Spurs have made first contact with Inter for Skriniar, with the club ‘working to lower the demands’ of the Nerazzurri, who are looking for around €60 million (£55.3 million) for the centre-back.

Romano added that the £45 million-rated 25-year-old is ‘one of [Jose] Mourinho’s [favourite] options as [a] new centre-back’ and that there is no chance of a potential player swap deal involving Tanguy Ndombele for Skriniar.

The journalist finished his tweet by stating that the ‘price tag is the main issue’ for the North London club, echoing Di Marzio by confirming Inter’s €60 million (£55.3 million) asking price for the Slovakian international.

In reaction to this news, fans of Tottenham have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many begging club chairman, Daniel Levy, to get the deal for Skriniar over the line.

Considering earlier this year it was reported that Mourinho had said Spurs would not be spending “rivers of money” in the summer transfer window, the fact that the club are now being linked with a move for Skriniar is certainly surprising, especially as Spurs have already spent £15.12 million on Matt Doherty, £14.94 million on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and £27 million on Sergio Reguilon already in the current transfer window, as well as bringing Gareth Bale back to the club on a loan deal.

However, it would appear that these Spurs fans are delighted to see their club splashing the cash, and would love for Tottenham to spend a little more of their money on the Serie A defender.
