Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been reacting to a Twitter post from @LastWordOnSpurs in which they relayed a story from The Telegraph with regards to Daniel Levy’s reported stance on the potential departure of Dele Alli.
According to the outlet, the Spurs chairman ‘is ready to play hardball with any clubs interested in signing’ the 24-year-old before the transfer window closes.
The attacking midfield player was left out of the squad that took on Southampton at St. Mary’s last weekend and Jose Mourinho’s decision to overlook the player is said ‘to have left the squad stunned’.
Here is how a sample of the club’s supporters have responded to this latest update on the social media platform.
I really don’t understand why Dele is on the selling block. It’s not like we have tremendous depth in creative midfielders. Unless we are going for Jack Grealish keep Dele.

Man do I want to see this lad get back to his best! He is insanely talented and I admit I take him for granted too often. I really do hope that Levy and Mourinho send him out on loan as I think a new club will help him find that special player we all know he is…

It was a pleasure having him. He had a 5 match stint he looked motivated when Jose arrived. Other than that last 2.5 seasons hes been missing. Maybe moving on is actually best for him.

Would you like to see Dele Alli moved on?
Yes
No
Needs to prove himself

Dele Alli is going nowhere, I do think he can use a fresh start, but Daniel Levy will demand between £55-65 mill and nobody will pay up that kind of cash during this economy
He also definitely have lost his value over last 2 years

Regular football?? ? Does this mean Alli is out of Jose’s plans?

Stop this at once https://t.co/C7TJOAkCcO

This makes no sense. Loaning him out with no obligation to buy is something no top club will touch. On top of that I don’t even think anyone wants him. The PSG links are surprising. Praying for a miracle. https://t.co/neTjkSnLvK

The Lilywhites signed Alli from MK Dons in February 2015 in a deal reportedly worth £5.97m and according to Transfermarkt, during his time in North London, the player’s value has increased dramatically and currently stands at £57.6m.
Taking that into consideration it would be fair to assume that the club would stand to make a huge profit on the player if he was sold but based on the responses of these supporters, there are mixed feelings with regards to whether or not he should be moved on.
During the 2016/17 campaign, Alli scored 18 goals and provided nine assists in 37 Premier League appearances – evidencing that he is capable of producing at the highest level but in each of the last three seasons, he has failed to hit double figures in terms of his goal return, therefore you could argue he has been in some sort of decline.
