Supporters of Tottenham Hotspur have been flocking to a transfer update which was relayed by Football.london journalist Alasdair Gold.
The Times recently linked the north London club with a move for Jesse Lingard and The Express touted Wout Weghorst as another possible transfer target.
However, Gold’s tweet poured cold water on both rumours as the journalist stated that they were ‘wide of the mark’ (per Alasdair Gold).
The tweet went on to explain that Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Benfica centre-back Ruben Dias, however, he is too expensive for Spurs in the current transfer window.
Lots of Tottenham fans then flocked to this tweet to air their reactions.
I understand links with Spurs looking to sign Jesse Lingard and/or Wout Weghorst are wide of the mark. Also Tottenham and Mourinho are big fans of Benfica centre-back Ruben Dias but he is too expensive for them in this window.https://t.co/pEvBoKLboH

It is claimed in the report for Football.london, which was shared in the tweet, that it has been reported that Dias is valued at £80m by Benfica, which is ‘far too expensive’ for Spurs in the current window.
Would you like Spurs to try and sign Ruben Dias in next summer's transfer window?
Yes, he's a class player
No, he's not that good
Maybe back in for Dias next summer? I do understand if its impossible this window tbh

Shame about Ruben Dias. He fits the bill in terms of his age/quality.

During the 2019/20 Premier League season, Lingard made 22 appearances for Manchester United in which he scored one goal and provided no assists (per WhoScored).
Over his appearances in the top flight, he earned a 6.30/10 average rating, the same rating in Spurs’ squad last season would have made him their seventh-worst performer.
So, perhaps it is clear to see why many Tottenham fans were pleased that Gold had stated that rumour was ‘wide of the mark’.
Lingard is a no go.
Alasdair, with everything I have….I thank you.

Brilliant news Alasdair.

As can be seen in these responses from Spurs fans, they were seemingly disappointed with the news regarding Dias and Weghorst but relieved by the update on Lingard.
