Fabrizio Romano discussed Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Andrea Belotti on the most recent edition of his Here We Go podcast.

The Lilywhites have been linked with a move for a forward during the current transfer window, with Football.London’s Alasdair Gold recently reporting that ‘Spurs have been extremely light in this area of the pitch over the past 12 months following Fernando Llorente’s exit to Napoli.’

1. Spurs signed Alfie Devine from which League One club?

Torino forward Belotti is one of the strikers who Spurs have been linked with a move for of late, with Gianluca Di Marzio recently reporting that Spurs have had a loan bid with an option to buy for a fee of €50m (£45.74m) rejected for the 26-year-old, as his current club will only consider ‘possible offers for a definitive sale.’

During the latest edition of his Here We Go podcast, Romano discussed the latest with regard to the Lilywhites’ interest in Belotti.

He said: “What’s happening is that for Belotti, an agent was working [on] the situation with Torino, made an enquiry with Torino, told [them] that Tottenham were ready to make a bid for a loan with buy option – so no obligation to buy, just a buy option – Torino president Urbano Cairo immediately said he won’t sell Belotti this summer and he won’t [sell] just for a loan.

“He just would sell Belotti if you come with an important bid for a permanent deal, but it’s impossible that Tottenham, this summer, arrives [with] €60m to sign Belotti.

“So, Belotti, in this moment, is absolutely not a Tottenham target.”

TIF Thoughts…

Judging by Romano’s comments, it seems that while the Lilywhites would be interested in adding Belotti to their squad for the 2020/21 season, they will not be able to do so as they are seemingly unable to put together a suitable deal for his transfer.

Considering that Tottenham do lack depth at the centre forward position and knowing that £31.5m-rated striker Belotti has scored 10 goals or more in each of the last five Serie A seasons, we feel that he would’ve been a good addition to their squad and so, if Romano is right and this deal is “impossible” for Tottenham to pull off at present, then hopefully for the Lilywhites, they have got some suitable alternative targets in mind so they don’t regret missing out on the Italy international.
