Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano was recently a guest on the Last Word On Spurs podcast, during the show he discussed all things Tottenham Hotspur and transfer window related.

One of the players discussed specifically was Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon who has been recently linked with a move to North London.

The left-back spent the 2019/20 season on loan to Sevilla from the La Liga champions and was a part of Julen Lopetegui’s UEFA Europa League-winning side.

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

When asked whether Spurs were looking to sign a left-back and the 23-year-old’s name was mentioned, here is what Romano had to say:

“For sure, Reguilon has been offered to Chelsea before they signed Chilwell, has been offered to Arsenal too, has been offered to Tottenham.

“Many clubs have considered him because, in my opinion, he’s [such a] good player.

“He was offered to Tottenham but, [at] this moment, there are no talks to sign him.”

TIF Thoughts…

Judging by the information provided, it appears Real Madrid are keen to move the player on and the Lilywhites aren’t the only club who have been offered the opportunity to sign the £22.5m-rated defender.

As well as tasting European glory last season, Reguilon boasted an impressive average performance rating in the Spanish top flight last season of 7.10/10 (as per WhoScored.com).

Based on the above, it could be argued that if the club were to bring him to The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he would be an upgrade on Ben Davies who ended the 2019/20 campaign as the first-choice left-back with a rating of 6.77/10.
