Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano recently appeared on the Last Word On Spurs podcast and discussed all things Tottenham Hotspur on the transfer front.

One of the players who was discussed was Juan Foyth. The 22-year-old defender joined Spurs back in August 2017 from Estudiantes in a deal worth £11.7m (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).

Since his arrival, he has made 32 appearances for the Lilywhites, contributing one goal to date.

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

On his future, here is what Romano had to say during the podcast:

“For Foyth, it will not be so easy to see him [leave] Tottenham. I’m told that an Italian club asked for him on loan two or three days ago.

“Tottenham replied that they are not going to loan him out and they [would] sell him if they [were offered] €15m.

“[At] this moment, [nobody] has offered this deal, so I think [at] this moment, if some club [offers] this fee, Juan Foyth can leave the club.”

Should Spurs sell Juan Foyth during this window?

TIF Thoughts…

Foyth was limited to just four appearances in the English top flight last season and, therefore, it may be understandable why an unnamed Italian club felt they could persuade the Premier League side to let them have him on loan.

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the player’s value currently stands at £12.15m and therefore in our view, the asking price set by Spurs, which according to the journalist is €15m (£13.38m) seems fair.

Given that he played very little football during the 2019/20 campaign, perhaps it is possible that he may well leave North London this summer but it is not clear whether or not it would be on a permanent basis or not.
