In the latest video for his YouTube channel, Football.london journalist Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, with a focus on their recent signings of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid.

One topic of discussion during the video was Spurs midfielder Tanguy Ndombele. The Frenchman came off the bench to score the winner against Lokomotiv Plovdiv last week and then started the game against Southampton on Sunday, although he was substituted at half-time due to him being on a yellow card and still being short of match fitness (per Football.London).

Spurs fans: How well can you remember the last week of THFC action? - 1. Who scored Spurs' first goal of the season?

Here’s what Gold had to say about the 23-year-old during the video:

“Tanguy Ndombele, [he] obviously had that great little cameo out in Bulgaria the other night as Spurs won that bizarre game, but I’m not going to focus on matches today. Mourinho is absolutely made up with him right now, it’s so great to hear. Apparently, he has just absolutely turned things around. He looks in great shape, I think he looks a lot leaner than he previously did.

“Mourinho just says he is so pleased with him, he’s looking much, much better he says, way, way better than he has in the past. He said actually, he’s looked the best that he has since he came. He said he’s giving everything in training and they’ve been discussing about how he’s not starting him just yet, but he’s going to give him more and more minutes and he’s going to get him involved and then he will be in a space where, fitness-wise, coming back from a knee injury he had and also other health issues, he’s building and building and building.

“Can you imagine Ndombele, the way he plays with the dribbling and the through balls, linking up again with the likes of [Gareth] Bale and [Giovani] Lo Celso? It’s mouth-watering.”

TIF Thoughts…

From what Gold suggests, Mourinho is very happy with the effort that Ndombele is putting in and Spurs fans can expect to see a lot more of the Frenchman this season, as he continues to get fitter and fitter. The former Lyon man joined for a club-record fee last season and endured a difficult debut campaign, with fitness issues regularly proving to be a problem for the midfielder.

However, it now seems as if the 23-year-old is working a lot harder in training to prove to Mourinho that he can be a first-team starter and after his start at St. Mary’s on Sunday, the future for Ndombele at Spurs can certainly be said to be looking a lot brighter than it did a few months ago, when there were reports he was ready to quit the north London club following a bust-up with Mourinho.
