In the latest video for his YouTube channel, Football.london journalist Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, reflecting on their 1-0 defeat against Everton last weekend, and also sharing some of the latest transfer news surrounding the North London club.

One topic of discussion on his recent video was RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka. The Zambian forward was linked with a move to the north London club earlier this month, although it subsequently emerged that he was keen to stay with the Austrian side rather than moving away during the current transfer window (per Football.london).

1. Spurs signed Alfie Devine from which League One club?

Here’s what Gold had to say about the 21-year-old striker during his video:

“We spoke about Patson Daka [in the] last video. He’s certainly someone they did look at and liked him. I think he’s one that they’ll keep an eye on. Unfortunately, noises coming out of his camp are that he’s looking to stay in Austria for another season [to] develop.

“That’s not just Tottenham’s loss, I think there’s a lot of European sides looking at him, but he’s said he wants to stay at Salzburg for another year and just continue his development, and then at 22/23, then look to make that move on – which is a shame, because he looks a very talented player.”

TIF Thoughts…

Considering Daka contributed 24 goals and eight assists in 31 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga last season (per Transfermarkt), it is perhaps no surprise to hear that Gold feels plenty of European sides are taking a look at him.

If he can have a similarly successful season with RB Salzburg in the 2020/21 campaign, then it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see the £18 million-rated striker earn a move away next summer but it seems as if the North London club will have to look elsewhere as they look to bring in another natural striker to support Harry Kane this season.
