Journalist Tom Crocker has been speaking on a recent edition of the Everything is Black and White podcast, and has been talking about Callum Wilson.

To get things started a rather easy one. Who scored Newcastle's first league goal of the season?

The Bournemouth Echo writer joined Andrew Musgrove to discuss the Toon’s new £20m man as well as fellow fresh recruit Ryan Fraser.

One of the topics that came up while Crocker was discussing Wilson was the striker’s injury record.

It seems as if Crocker does not think injuries will be a problem for Wilson anymore as he bounced back from two cruciate ligament injuries and played most of the Cherries’ games in the league since returning from the second of his two long-term layoffs in late 2017.

He said: “He has gone on to play for England since that [his injuries], so I think he’s well through that.

“I don’t think injuries are really a big problem in terms of that now, so I don’t think he’s going to be worrying about that.

“He’s played pretty much all of the games for Bournemouth over the last couple of seasons since he’s come back.”

Are you worried about Wilson's injury record?

No, he should be fine

TIF Thoughts…

Wilson suffered cruciate ligament injuries in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons.

However, since he has returned, he has played a lot of Premier League games, including all but three in the most recent campaign – while the 28-year-old has also played for England four times following his debut in 2018 – so it does indeed look like he has put those injury issues behind him.

He is available to make his debut on Saturday against West Ham United, which should give Toon fans the chance to see their new striker.

Wilson has a superb goalscoring record against the Hammers with seven in eight games, so it will be interesting to see if he can get his Toon career off to the perfect start by continuing that record on Saturday.
