Steve Wraith has been speaking on the latest episode of his YouTube show NUFC Matters, and has been discussing all things relating to Newcastle United.

To get things started a rather easy one. Who scored Newcastle's first league goal of the season?

Wraith was joined by John Gibson and Malcolm Macdonald, and all three used their time to discuss the current talking points around the Toon.

One of the things that Wraith focused on was the failed takeover of Newcastle United by Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium, and he provided an update on the situation.

It seems as if Wraith thinks that something is going on behind the scenes, but he is unsure if it will lead to a positive or negative outcome for the potential takeover of the Toon.

He said: “My understanding is that there is still something going on, and if there’s not anything going on with the Saudis and their takeover, we will hear something either way, and when we do hear it, we will hear it as a positive or we will hear it as a negative.

“What we will hear from PCP and PIF is there is ‘no deal, there is no takeover, we gave it our best shot, this is the reason it failed.’

“The other side of it is they’ll be standing on the pitch holding a scarf saying, ‘we did it.'”

TIF Thoughts…

It was reported in August that discussions were taking place within the consortium as they look to find a positive solution to try and take Newcastle from Mike Ashley.

However, more recently, it has been reported that there has been no interest from Staveley’s group in trying to reignite the takeover bid.

So, by going off that, it seems as if the most likely news that Newcastle fans might hear is negative, with Ashley preparing himself for another season in charge of the Toon.

However, it is clear that Wraith thinks something is going on, so it will be interesting to see if the news is indeed positive or negative. For the sake of the Newcastle fans, we hope it is positive.
