A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from The Chronicle that was taken while the Toon were losing 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur and it showed that before Callum Wilson’s late equaliser, Newcastle had managed just two shots on target in the league since the start of the season.
Wilson’s late equaliser made it three shots on target and three league goals for Newcastle but it is still not great from the Toon, and this statistic has concerned these Newcastle fans.
Shambolic performance

Worrying

It’s embarrassing. How much more time can Bruce honestly have on his side? You can’t start the season the way we have. West ham were truly awful in the first game. We weren’t that good but the result suggested otherwise. This kind of football is worthy of a relegation fight #NUFC

Newcastle went through nearly two Premier League games without having a shot on target but still have four points from their first three league games, which has left them ninth in the table.
Do you think this is acceptable?
No, this can't continue
Yes, we have four points
However, you would think that they will have to find a way to have more shots on target because it seems unlikely that they will be able to keep up this 100% conversion rate of shots on target to goals.
This post continued to draw the attention of these Toon fans who saw the funny side of this statistic.
100% shot on target to goals scored this season. Can’t beat that??

Make that 3 from 3 ??

Newcastle have the likes of Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin, Ryan Fraser, and Miguel Almiron in their side who have all proven to various degrees that they can score and provide assists in the Premier League.
So, you could expect that the Toon should be able to manage more than three shots on target in three games.
The Toon lined up against Spurs in a 5-4-1 formation and relied on Karl Darlow to keep them in the game as the Toon’s ‘keeper made many saves and earned a 10/10 rating from The Chronicle.
So, you can see why so many Newcastle fans are angry at this stat because you would think relying on your goalkeeper and having just three shots on target in three games does not bode well for the rest of the season.
