Many Newcastle United supporters have been reacting to a Twitter post from @NUFC360 which relays a claim from L’Equipe (via Get French Football News) that the club is interested in signing Bayern Munich’s Michael Cuisance.
Although it is reported that Leeds United lead the race to land the 21-year-old central midfielder, it is understood that the Magpies also have a strong interest in the player and are hoping to ‘make up ground’ on the Whites in the chase for his signature.
Cuisance made nine league appearances for the Bundesliga champions during the 2019/20 campaign and according to WhoScored, his average performance rating in the competition was a solid 6.7/10.
Here is how a sample of the St. James’ Park faithful responded to this update via the social media platform.
If you have a chance to play under Bielsa or Bruce who are you really going to choose ?

We will bid 2mill and tell Bruce we tried our best but couldn’t get him. We have history with Bayern like that.

Do you think Newcastle could land Michael Cuisance during this window?
Yes
No
Bet he can’t wait to compete with Jeff Hendrick for a starting spot.

We’re not paying £18m for him or anyone.

I don’t think it will happen, Leeds are very close to sign him

It’s clear from the above responses that some supporters aren’t convinced their club stand a strong chance of landing the Frenchman.
According to Transfermarkt, the player is valued at £9m but according to GFFN, it will take around €20m (£18.1m) to persuade Bayern Munich to sell – so, the German club could be asking for a fee which is over the odds.
