Supporters of Newcastle United have been reacting to Steve Bruce quotes which were posted to social media by the club.
On Friday, it was announced by the Toon that French defender Florian Lejeune had been sent out on a season-long loan to La Liga outfit Deportivo Alaves (per Newcastle United).
Then, later in the day, prior to the club’s upcoming match against West Ham United, Bruce spoke about his defensive options and it was shared by the club.
He said: “Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett still haven’t fully recovered. Ciaran broke his leg and Paul has had an ongoing problem. They both had operations. [Fabian] Schär dislocated his shoulder and he’s not right either. I think letting Flo out was the right thing to do.”
This had lots of Newcastle supporters flocking to it to air their reactions.

I have to admit this is a very confusing statement. Summed up to be
“Majority of my defenders are injured. I think letting another one go on loan was the right choice.”

Did he really say that!!

Should Clark, Dummett and Schär miss the clash with the Hammers, that will leave Bruce with just Jamaal Lascelles and Federico Fernandez as centre-back options (via Transfermarkt).
Are you confused by what Steve Bruce said about his defensive options?
No, makes sense to me
Yes, it makes no sense
Cheers, crying

Half my CB’s are crocked, so it made perfect sense to sent a fit one out on loan. pic.twitter.com/FeomrJOJQJ

While the Toon will seemingly only have two fit out-and-out central defenders, Isaac Hayden is also capable of playing as a centre-back (per Transfermarkt).
On Friday, it was also announced by Newcastle that Hayden has signed a new six-year deal with the Toon that will keep the defensive midfielder at the club until 2026 (per Newcastle United).

This is backwards in every way. Did he seriously say this. All injured but letting another out on loan is a good idea ehhh ? confused much!!

As can be seen in these replies from Newcastle supporters, they were left confused after what Bruce had to say was shared on Twitter by the club.
