A lot of Newcastle United fans have been reacting to a tweet that was recently posted by Toon-focused journalist Lee Ryder which includes a link to an article from ChronicleLive that shares some comments that were made by Newcastle midfielder Isaac Hayden following his side’s 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion this past weekend.

As per ChronicleLive, Hayden spoke to NUFC TV after the Toon’s 3-0 loss to the Seagulls at the weekend and addressed ‘the complacency in the camp,’ stating that: “It seems people get complacent.”

Additionally, the midfielder acknowledged that there had been some ‘harsh words behind the scenes’ when asked, admitting that he and his teammates were not happy with the Toon’s first-half performance, as they went into the half-time interval two goals down

After this report was shared by Ryder via a tweet, it caught the attention of many Newcastle supporters who responded to it.

Many of the Newcastle United fans who replied to this tweet criticised Hayden and his performance in his side’s clash with the Seagulls on Sunday.

A nice easy one to start off with. Who scored Newcastle's opening goal of the 2020/21 PL season?

One particular Toon supporter shared that they don’t think there was much leadership in the Newcastle United team at the weekend, while some other Newcastle fans criticised Toon boss Steve Bruce in response to this post.

Did Hayden play badly versus Brighton?

So, as can be seen in the majority of these Newcastle fans’ replies to Ryder’s tweet, it seems as though Hayden didn’t exactly win over the club’s supporters with his performance versus Brighton.

However, according to WhoScored, the 25-year-old earned the highest overall rating (6.32) of any Toon player to have played the full 90 minutes on Sunday so with that in mind, perhaps some of these replies are quite harsh on the midfielder.
