Many Newcastle United fans have been discussing the latest news involving Sassuolo left-back Rogerio that recently emerged on social media.

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) recently reported that the Neroverdi defender has ‘suitcases in hand towards Newcastle’. The Magpies are now waiting for the final ‘signatures’ to seal a move for the Brazilian defender and the negotiations are said to be heading ‘towards the yes’.

To get things started a rather easy one. Who scored Newcastle's first league goal of the season?

This update was relayed on Twitter by NUFC 360 recently. Many Newcastle United fans flocked to this news and made their opinion very clear about the update.

Do you think Newcastle will sign both Rogerio and Lewis?

Yes

No

This comes after Fabrizio Romano had reported that Rogerio to Newcastle is a ‘done deal’ and he would join the club in the next few days.

The Sassuolo man had made 15 appearances for the Serie A club last season and he even scored one goal, picking up a single assist. As a result, he picked up a WhoScored rating of 6.75. Only seven players picked up better WhoScored ratings than Rogerio in the 2019/20 Serie A campaign.

Some other Newcastle fans were also sceptical about this update and they made their opinion very clear.

These Newcastle fans seem confused that the club will sign another left-back, considering that they are now set to sign Norwich City’s Jamal Lewis as well.

It is important for them to note that Jetro Willems’ loan stint ended earlier this year and Danny Rose has returned to Tottenham as well. So because of that, the club would need more options in the left-back position and signing two left-backs would give them more depth in that position.

While it remains to be seen if the club does sign both Rogerio and Lewis, but having extra depth in that department might not be a bad thing at all.
