Journalist Rich Fay has recently made a claim about Manchester United’s chase of Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

Fay was recently hosting the latest episode of the ‘Manchester is Red’ podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Red Devils.

One topic of discussion was Sancho and if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men could still sign the Englishman. Fay believes that one can expect some sort of movement on that front in the remaining few days of the summer transfer window.

How well do you remember the action from the opening weekend of the Premier League? - 1. Who scored the first goal of the season?

The Guardian have reported that United are now considering a bid for Sancho and they could now step up their pursuit of the player. It is said that United’s valuation of the Englishman is still ‘some way short’ of what Dortmund want for him.

When talking about United’s chase of Sancho, Fay said that some sort of movement is expected and if United want to sign him, it is basically now or never.

The journalist said: “So, you can expect that there will be some sort of movement. United have made it clear that they’re not out of the rank and they still have him as their priority target.

“So, if you want to sign him, it is now or never. You’ve got all week to do so.

Can Man Utd still sign Sancho?

“Obviously, United don’t want to pay the £108 million upfront valuation which Dortmund want.

“They’d want to have a decent fee upfront, like they did with Bruno Fernandes, like they did with [Romelu] Lukaku and then have some performance-related add-ons on top to take it closer to Dortmund’s value.”

TIF Thoughts…

Fabrizio Romano has already stated that personal terms are not an issue for United at this point, but it has been reported that Dortmund are ‘bemused’ by how the Red Devils have been trying to sign the Englishman this summer.

The Manchester Evening News have claimed that Sancho is a priority target for United, but there is a ‘fundamental gap’ between the two parties regarding the player’s worth.

So, clearly, the problem lies in the fact that United are yet to agree a fee for the Englishman. With less than a week to go until the transfer window slams shut, they would need to act quickly if they want to sign the 20-year-old.
