Pete O’Rourke and Dean Jones spent some time talking about Manchester United during the latest edition of The Rumour Review and Jones discussed the possibility of the Red Devils signing Watford’s Ismaila Sarr.

It has been reported that Sarr is an alternative option to Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho for Manchester United, as the Red Devils have been unsuccessful thus far in their attempts to bring the English winger to Old Trafford during the current transfer window.

How well do you remember the action from the opening weekend of the Premier League? - 1. Who scored the first goal of the season?

Here is what Jones had to say about the possibility of the Red Devils signing the £22.05m-rated Senegal international during this recent edition of The Rumour Review: “Ismaila Sarr from Watford is probably one to really look out for, I think that is a deal that could come through.

“United really like the player, I think an initial loan with a view to buying him would suit everybody. I think Watford are realistic in the fact that holding onto a player like that is going to be really difficult for them this season.

“I’d say that there’s a good chance of him coming even if they do sign Jadon Sancho because of the strength in depth that they’re going to need.”

Would Sarr be a good signing for Manchester United?

TIF Thoughts…

So, judging by what Jones had to say, it seems as though a potential Manchester United move for Sarr may not even be dependent on the Red Devils missing out on their reported ‘priority’ target Sancho, with the journalist declaring that the 22-year-old may join along with Sancho in order to provide additional depth at the right-wing position.

After joining Watford for £27m last summer, Sarr went on to provide a total of nine goal contributions for Watford in the Premier League, meaning that he either scored or assisted 25% of their 36 league goals.

With that in mind, it may be fair to say that Sarr was fairly effective for the relegated side and as a result, we feel that he may not be a bad transfer target for the Red Devils.
