ESPN’s Colin Udoh has been discussing the future of Kalidou Koulibaly and why Manchester United should be going after the Napoli defender during a recent YouTube video.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Parthenopeans this summer with both of United’s rivals Manchester City and Liverpool being credited with an interest.

However, Udoh can’t understand why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side has not entered the race for the Senegalese defender, here is what he had to say:

“What I’m really surprised about is that Manchester United have not got themselves in that conversation because they do need a centre-back.

“They’ve looked all manner of rattled when they’ve faced any sort of opposition, Koulibaly is the kind of player who gives them the kind of aerial dominance they need.

“He’s quick and he can snuff out danger almost as soon as he sees it. I’m shocked that they haven’t put themselves in the frame for getting him.”

TIF Thoughts…

According to Transfermarkt, the player’s value currently stands at £58.5m and according to the club’s manager Gennaro Gattuso when speaking earlier in the month, Koulibaly has a “precise asking price” and “if the club doesn’t get the money it is asking for, then he won’t leave“.

Should Manchester United go after Kalidou Koulibaly?

It can certainly be argued that United are in need of a top-quality centre-back when you take a look at the average performance ratings of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof in the Premier League so far this season.

The former Leicester City defender’s rating according to WhoScored is an underwhelming 6.38/10 and it could be argued the Sweden international has also disappointed so far with a rating of 6.42/10.

So, it seems that Udoh does have a point in his claim regarding Koulibaly.
