Liverpool journalist Matt Addison has been discussing Reds winger Harry Wilson and his current transfer situation at the Merseyside club.

This comes after Addison recently made an appearance on the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast where he spoke about the latest news topics surrounding Jurgen Klopp’s side.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

On the subject of Wilson, who has been linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer (per Sky Sports), Addison explained his current transfer situation at the club.

He said: “Liverpool’s stance has not changed. They want £20 million [for Wilson]. They don’t want to loan him, so it doesn’t look like he’s going to be allowed on loan unless Liverpool climb down from that position.

“It does give, obviously, Harry Wilson a chance to come into this Liverpool squad. To be honest, if everyone’s fit, you struggle to see even how he gets onto the Liverpool bench, if we are being completely truthful.

“Injury kept him out of pre-season. I think there was a bit of speculation that he might have been left out with a potential move on the cards, but that wasn’t the case – it was just an injury.”

After working his way through Liverpool’s youth system, Wilson has spent loan spells at clubs such as Crewe Alexandra, Hull City, Derby County and most recently, Bournemouth.

During his latest loan spell at Bournemouth during the 2019/20 season, Wilson made 31 Premier League appearances for the club in which he scored seven goals.

His performances in those appearances, however, earned himself a fairly uninspiring season rating of 6.52/10 (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

Despite managing to score himself a few goals during his spell at Bournemouth, it could be argued that Wilson’s time at the club wasn’t particularly successful looking at his season rating and the fact that Bournemouth were relegated at the end of the 2019/20 season.

Taking that into account, a fee of £20 million as Addison said in the podcast could be considered to be a bit steep for some clubs that could be interested in signing the winger this summer.

Looking ahead, it will be intriguing to see if any club comes in for Wilson and if they’d be willing to pay £20 million for him or if they could potentially make Liverpool bring down their asking price for him.
