2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

The former Norway international has revealed why he thinks a move for the Spaniard to Anfield has yet to materialise, here is what he had to say:

“He wants to play in the Premier League. He’s never said that ‘I want to play for this or that club’. The rumour, or what people are saying, is that Liverpool [have] got to sell before they can buy, and I think that’s one of the reasons why this is slowing a bit down. The [talk] that Manchester United are very keen on Thiago, the [talk] that Manchester United want Thiago – that is 100% true.”

“If you saw this week, there was a big interview with the CEO, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge [of Bayern Munich], he said ‘I expect a bid to be in starting this week’, so I think there could be some movement this week and I’m not 100% sure which club will make the first bid.”

TIF Thoughts…

Whilst Fjortoft thinks there could be some progress regarding Thiago’s future in the coming week, he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of Manchester United making a formal approach first for the 29-year-old – that may worry some of the Liverpool fans.

The Spain international’s average performance rating in the Bundesliga last season was an impressive 7.47/10 according to WhoScored.com, making him Bayern’s fourth most consistent performer in the 2019/20 season. Taking the above into consideration, there is no doubt in our minds that whoever ends up landing the midfielder will be getting a top-class player.
